Why is Coastal Kicks Soccer forming competitive teams?

Forming teams to play competitively is the next stage in the Coastal Kicks development-based model. Unlike the competition-based model used in the big local soccer clubs where everything revolves around league and tournament competition (i.e., winning trophies), our model emphasizes individual player development in a positive supportive environment (free of the inappropriate pressures to "win at all costs" regardless of age or ability). Since soccer is a team sport, it is critical for kids to experience team competitions to develop fully as players. Coastal Kicks players will now be able to enjoy that process as a part of their development at the appropriate age and level of play.
